And I'm Ready for the Weekend

10.26.2012

Just to add to the list of things I swore I'd never do, I got my hair all cut off a month after the wedding. I understand now, that some things are just unavoidable. And that it was entirely necessary, because if you only saw how truly dead and gross my hair was, you would fully support it.

I am embarrassed at the amount of time I spent agonizing over how short to cut it. It's not usually an emotional thing, but everyone seems to have long hair right now. That's cool, but I wake up and don't have to do anything to it and that is MAGICAL.

After I left the salon I sent this photo to my mom and she responded with, "You are so dramatic!!!"

Yes, yes I am. Dramatic with three exclamation marks, a forehead that's not really that big, and skin as white as the wall behind me.

(Words from Bryan: "You're white in real life, but you're not THAT white.")

Enjoy the weekend, friends and family.

I am up in New York again. I am considering a candlelight vigil at some point because Hurricane Sandy (SANDY? Reason 873634 why someone else needs to name hurricanes) is supposed to hit as early as Sunday.

If you think of it, prayers that I am able to get home before it hits would be so deeply appreciated. Really.

In the mean time,

Here are some fun internet hyperlinks for you to enjoy. In all caps, because it keeps things exciting and I like you to imagine I'm shouting things to you.

+ REMEMBER HOW LUCY WAS THE CUTEST PUPPY?

+ ON THIS DAY LAST YEAR

+ SO MANY PUMPKIN RECIPES.

+ PIZZA, ANYONE?

+ SO encouraging - THIS was one of those things I read and just felt a resounding "yes" in my soul.

+ YOUR CHILDHOOD CRUSHES, THEN AND NOW (Thanks, Rach! Anyone else wondering who actually had a crush on that kid from Are You Afraid of the Dark?)

Tell me your weekend plans! Do they involve hurricanes?

  1. No hurricanes but we've been seeing snow here in Norway!!! It's melting immediately in town but I see it collecting on the tops of the mountains!

    1. It was such a sweet surprise to see your name pop up in my inbox! LOVED Devon Sawa. I think I liked JTT because I was supposed to. And he was the voice of Simba.

    1. I'm not dead, but I'm definitely not going home any time soon. Hurricanes ruin everything.

  4. My hair has gotten fairly long, but mostly due to how crazy expensive a hair cut is in Steamboat. Really, I'm tempted to let Clinton give it a shot.

Bless you for the blast from the past crush update! No. No one had a crush on Gary. I did, however, enjoy seeing my old love, COLT! I am not sure what the big fuss was about Rocky. "Rocky loves Emily, Rocky loves Emily..."

Praying for you to leave before Sandy's wrath is felt! Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I try to limit myself to two hair cuts a year. Bryan does not understand why I can't just go to Great Clips...

Confession: I have ever seen 3 Ninjas.

I loved Devon Sawa because of Now and Then. What a wormer.

  6. No my weekend plans DO NOT involve hurricanes! Argh! They may, however, involve an earthquake. Hopefully not though, lol, we'll see. :P

  7. Your hair looks great! Right after my sister got married she cut her hair too. Wonder if it is a newlywed thing ...=) I'll definately keep you in my prayers! ♥

    1. Oh, it's definitely an unspoken newlywed rite of passage. Mostly because you persevere and try not to cut it so you have an infinite amount of options for the wedding. I am so happy it's gone, though!

  9. Oh no! I hope you made it home!

The hair. The lips. You look stunning. I had lonnnnng long hair I grew out for years in my wedding. I loved the look of my long hair, but the time it took to dry it drove me out of my mind. I chopped it off a month after my wedding and it's been pure bliss ever since!

    1. I did not make it home. It's a horrible story. One I will regale everyone with when I have the energy to write about it. UGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SDJKFHSLDAKJHFASDJKH

Thank you, dahlin! You're so right. Bliss. Times are simpler in the morning, that is for sure.

  10. The childhood crushes link killed me. Haley Joel Osment? I die. Could they have found a more unflattering picture?
Let's be real- no one had a crush on that kid from Are You Afraid of the Dark? No one. Not even me, and I'm the queen of dorky crushes.
Andrew Keegan? Meow. I met him a couple years ago and you seriously would have thought I was thirteen again. He was so dreamy. He called me "dear." I felt sparks.

    1. Hahahah I thought the same thing. It's like his little tiny face never grew and they just put it on a man's head.

Every time I saw that kid from AYAOTD (it was harder to figure out the acronym for that than to just type it out), I was like "Shut up Midnight Society...I just want to see the Mowry sisters turn into a lizard."

      YOU MET ANDREW KEEGAN?

      Andrew Keegan called you dear.

    1. HE TOLD ME! AHHHH!!

When he was driving home he told me about seeing all of you guys and I was SO SAD I didn't get to go and finally meet you all. Seriously, I told Jen - we need to just have an enormous brunch or tea party or something. And then we can all hug!
